After several months of testing and flight testing, the HB-SIA prototype is about to realize the technological challenge of flying a whole day with solar energy.
to take the big step, in the past two months, the Solar Impulse pilots have been different flight testing. The goal was to break the record for 4,000 meters and be able to charge the batteries of the aircraft, because if the prototype is capable of producing more energy than they consume its four engines, the first night flight is feasible. This challenge is met when the aircraft returned with more energy than it had at the start of the trip and had never flown so high and for so long: four hours and fifty minutes, reaching 3,657 meters high. A challenge to be attended as a partner Altran Engineering ambitious project.
